The Proposal

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight was a very interesting story to read. The mysterious character of the Green Knight drew in the attention of the reader. The Green Knight lives in the forest and is covered in green from head to toe. He also wants a knight from the round table to chop his head of with an ax. This story, amongst all others that I have read this year, stands out greatly because of its unusual story line. I chose the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight based strictly on the interest I had in it. The story itself was presented in a blunt way, but the characters had much suspicion behind them. "Whether fate be foul or fair, Why falter I or fear? What should man do but dare?" (Stone, Brian) is my favorite quote from the poem. This quote explains that without trying, there can be no outcome. After Sir Gawain states this, he is not eager to go, but he knows what he has to do.

On my blog, I will be posting five other related posts hopefully giving you a great perspective of the story of the Green Knight. These posts will be a biography of the author, a plot summary, a setting analysis, and a character analysis. The biography of the author, The Pearl Poet, will introduce him and why he wrote this story. In the plot summary, you will be introduces to the main points that catch the eye of the reader in the story of the Green Knight. The setting analysis will explain where and when the story takes place and the atmosphere around the characters. Character analysis is a huge part when looking at a story. This post will explain in detail some of the main characters in the story and discuss their personalities, motivations, changes, and functions. At the conclusion of these posts i will cite the works i used to help me. Enjoy!
